FDA

Food and Drug Administration. A federal agency responsible for the safety evaluation of drugs, cosmetics, food additives, and medical devices. FDA regulates the labeling of cosmetics. For more information: www.cfsan.fda.gov

Fetus

The unborn offspring in the postembryonic period, after major structures have been outlined. In humans this occurs from 8-9 weeks after conception until birth.

Fibrosis

The formation of scar tissue in an organ, generally by replacement of functional organ cells by non-functional fibrous tissue.

FIFRA

Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act. A federal law, administered by the EPA, to evaluate and register pesticides.

Flash Point

Flash point is the lowest temperature at which a liquid can form an ignitable mixture in air near the surface of the liquid. The lower the flash point, the easier it is to ignite the material.

Form

Structure such as solid, liquid, aerosol etc.

Fragrance

 A fragrance is a chemical mixture that has a smell or odor. The mixtures that make a fragrance may include natural aromatic raw materials, obtained from plants using distillation, expression and extraction, or synthetic materials.

The State of California's Cleaning Product Right to Know Act of 2017 requires manufacturers/importers of cleaning, air care products and automotive detailing products sold in California to disclose when such a product contains fragrance allergen(s) as identified in Annex III of the EU Cosmetics Regulation No. 1223/2009 are present in the product at a concentration at or above 0.01 percent (100 ppm). 

The following 26 fragrance substances were introduced into Annex III of the Cosmetics Directive by the 7th amendment (2003/15/EC) on the basis of the SCCNFP draft opinion (SCCNFP/0017/98) published on 30 September 1999 for public consultation and the final opinion adopted by the SCCNFP during the plenary session of 8 December 1999:
