I have some questions about a product that I have. How do I contact the manufacturer?
Click on "Brands" in the navigation column on the left side of the Home Page. Enter the brand name in the search box. If your product is in this database, the manufacturer's contact information will be displayed in the page that opens.

What is "Product Category."
All brands in this database are generally grouped into 10 Product Categories:
- Automotive
- Personal Care
- Inside Home
- Home Maintenance
- Landscaping/Yard
- Hobbies/Crafts
- Pesticides
- Pet Care
- Home Office
- Commercial/Institutional
While most brands may be found in a single category, some brands may be found in multiple categories.

Do you sell the products shown in this database? Where can I get product samples?
We do not supply product samples nor do we currently sell any products. You may contact product manufacturers about retail sales by using contact information provided with each brand in this database.

How many products are there in the database?
There are currently over 25,000 products in the database.

How do you select products to include in the database?
Brands in the cpid are selected based on market share and shelf presence in retail stores such as drugstores, supermarkets, auto parts stores, building supply stores, pet stores and office supply stores.

How often do you update the database?
The database is continuously updated.

Do you recommend the products in the database?
This database is compiled by DeLima Associates using information provided by manufacturers of the products listed here. We do not recommend or endorse any product in the database. DeLima Associates makes no representations and does not warrant the merchantability or fitness of any product for any particular purpose. None of the products in this database are manufactured or sold by DeLima Associates.

This database only contains non-food and non-pharmaceutical consumer products.

Where does information in this database come from?
Product information in the cpid is from a variety of publicly available sources including labels on product containers, Safety Data Sheets provided by manufacturers and manufacturers' web sites.

Why can't I find some products that I use at home?
While the database does contain over 11,000 brands, we are aware that many popular brands are missing. We plan to continue adding brands. You are welcome to suggest additional brands

How do I find more information about specific chemical ingredients?
For information about a specific chemical you may Search Ingredients. Enter the chemical name and review the physical properties and health effects of the chemical.

What is MSDS?
MSDS is the abbreviation for Material Safety Data Sheet which is a fact sheet prepared by manufacturers for all products that contain a chemical. MSDS's include brand-specific information such as physical data (solid, liquid, color, melting point, flash point, etc.), health effects, first aid, reactivity, storage, handling, disposal, personal protection and spill/leak procedures. Material Safety Data Sheets were reformated in 2015 and are now called Safety Data Sheets or SDS.

Where can I obtain a Material Safety Data Sheet?
We have provided the full text of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for brands entered into this database since 2007. Material Safety Data Sheets have been reformatted since 2015 and are now called "Safety Data Sheets" or SDS. You may also request a Safety Data Sheet from the manufacturer of the brand of interest. Use "Search Brands" to locate the brand in question. Click on the brand name. The manufacturer's contact information is provided with the brand information.

Where do I send complaints about a product?
Contact the manufacturer of the product. Use "Search Manufacturer" to obtain contact information for manufacturers of all brands in this database.

How do I contact the manufacturer of a specific brand?
Click on "Manufacturers" in the left navigation column. Enter the manufacturer's name in the search box to obtain contact information. If you do not know the manufacturer's name, click on "Brands" in the left navigation column. Enter brand name in search box. Click on brand name from search results to obtain contact information.

Where can I buy the products included in the database? Could you please send me samples?
The purpose of the database is to provide you with health and safety information about household products and their ingredients. We do not distribute samples, sell products or keep information on which retailers carry the products. However, we do provide you with contact information for the manufacturers of all products in this database. Please contact the manufacturer for information on retail stores near you that sell the products of your interest and on where to get samples.
