The GHS is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labelling of chemicals. Chemicals are associated with codes that define their health, physical and environmental hazards.This universal hazard communication system was developed to ensure that employers, employees and consumers are provided with adequate, practical, reliable and comprehensible information on the hazards of chemicals, so that they can take effective preventive and protective measure for their own health and safety.
  The GHS classifications for chemicals associated with products in this database may be viewed by selecting the "Advanced" button on the Chemical Ingredients tables. Since this is a work in progress, GHS classifications may not be shown for all chemical ingredients.

  NLP is the No-Longer Polymers category and its NLP numbers are displayed as 5xx-xxx-x EC No.

  Hazard Codes and their associated descriptions are an essential part of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). There are 4 categories of Hazard Codes:

  • Physical Hazard Codes (H200 series)
  • Health Hazard Codes (H300 series)
  • Environmental Hazard Codes (H400 series)
  • Supplementary Hazard Codes (EUH series)

  SVHC is a substance (identified by the European Chemicals Agency) that may have serious and often irreversible effects on human health and the environment. SVHC are defined in Article 57 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (“the REACH Regulation”) and include substances which are:
  1.  Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction (CMR), meeting the criteria for classification in category 1 or 2 in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC or in category 1a or 1b in accordance with EC No 1272/2008This directive was recently replaced by the new EU regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
  2.  Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) or very Persistent and very Bioaccumulative (vPvB) according to the criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation, or
  3.  Identified, on a case-by-case basis, from scientific evidence as causing probable serious effects to human health or the environment of an equivalent level of concern as those above (e.g. endocrine disrupters).

      For external use only.  When using this product with other topical acne medications, at the same time or immediately following use of this product, increased dryness or irritation of the skin may occur.  If this  occurs, only one acne medication should be used unless directed by a doctor.  Avoid contact with eyes.  If product gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.  Keep out of reach of children.  In case of accidental ingestion, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.

      Emergency Overview
      This product is regulated by the US FDA as a personal care cosmetic or over-the-counter drug. Extensive testing has been completed to show that it is safe and effective when used as directed.
      CAUTION: CAUSES EYE IRRITATION. MAY CAUSE SKIN IRRITATION.
      Potential short term health effects
      Routes of exposure: Eye, Skin contact, Skin absorption, Inhalation, Ingestion.
      Eyes: Causes irritation.
      Skin: May cause irritation.
      Inhalation: May cause respiratory tract irritation.
      Ingestion: May cause stomach distress, nausea or vomiting.
      Target organs: Eyes, Respiratory system.
      Signs and symptoms: Symptoms may include redness, edema, drying, defatting and cracking of the skin.
      

    • Chronic health effects

      From MSDS:
      Prolonged or repeated exposure can cause drying, defatting and dermatitis.

    • Carcinogenicity

      The finished product is not expected to have chronic health effects.

    • Handling information

      Use good industrial hygiene practices in handling this material.
      Keep out of reach of children. Store in a closed container away from incompatible materials.

    • Disposal information

      Review federal, provincial, and local government requirements prior to disposal.

      WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.

    • First Aid

      Eye contact:  Flush with cool water. Remove contact lenses, if applicable, and continue flushing. Obtain medical attention if irritation persists.
      Skin contact:  In case of skin irritation, discontinue use of product.
      Inhalation:  If symptoms develop move victim to fresh air. If symptoms persist, obtain medical attention.
      Ingestion:  Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water, then drink one or two glasses of water. Obtain medical attention. Never give anything by mouth if victim is unconscious, or is convulsing.
      Notes to physician: Symptoms may be delayed.
      General advice:  If you feel unwell, seek medical advice (show the label where possible). Ensure that medical personnel are aware of the material(s) involved, and take precautions to protect themselves. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children.
