The GHS is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labelling of chemicals. Chemicals are associated with codes that define their health, physical and environmental hazards.This universal hazard communication system was developed to ensure that employers, employees and consumers are provided with adequate, practical, reliable and comprehensible information on the hazards of chemicals, so that they can take effective preventive and protective measure for their own health and safety.
  The GHS classifications for chemicals associated with products in this database may be viewed by selecting the "Advanced" button on the Chemical Ingredients tables. Since this is a work in progress, GHS classifications may not be shown for all chemical ingredients.

  SVHC is a substance (identified by the European Chemicals Agency) that may have serious and often irreversible effects on human health and the environment. SVHC are defined in Article 57 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (“the REACH Regulation”) and include substances which are:
  1.  Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction (CMR), meeting the criteria for classification in category 1 or 2 in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC or in category 1a or 1b in accordance with EC No 1272/2008This directive was recently replaced by the new EU regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
  2.  Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) or very Persistent and very Bioaccumulative (vPvB) according to the criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation, or
  3.  Identified, on a case-by-case basis, from scientific evidence as causing probable serious effects to human health or the environment of an equivalent level of concern as those above (e.g. endocrine disrupters).

      R36/37/38 Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin.
      R20/65 Harmful by inhalation, may cause lung damage if swallowed.
      R11 Highly Flammable.
      R20/21 Harmful by inhalation and in contact with skin.
      R66 Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking.
      R67 Vapors may cause drowsiness and dizziness.
      EYE & SKIN CONTACT: Primary irritation to skin, defatting, dermatitis. Absorption thru skin increases exposure. Primary irritation to eyes, redness, tearing, blurred vision. Liquid can cause eye irritation. Wash thoroughly after handling.
      INHALATION: Anesthetic. Irritates respiratory tract. Acute overexposure can cause serious nervous system depression. Vapor harmful. Breathing vapor can cause irritation. Acute overexposure can cause harm to kidneys, blood, nerves, liver, lungs. Use of alcoholic beverages enhances the harmful effect.
      SWALLOWING: Harmful or fatal if swallowed. Swallowing can cause abdominal irritation, nausea, vomiting & diarrhea. The symptoms of chemical pneumonitis may not show up for a few days.

    • Chronic health effects

      From MSDS:
      Chronic overexposure can cause harm to kidneys, blood, nerves, liver, lungs. Persons with severe skin, liver or kidney problems should avoid use.

    • Carcinogenicity

      Potential Cancer Hazard based on tests with laboratory animals using Ethylbenzene. Overexposure may create cancer risk. Leukemia been reported in humans from Benzene. This product contains less than 52 ppm of Benzene. Not considered hazardous in such low concentrations. Absorption thru skin may be harmful. Studies with laboratory animals indicate this product can cause damage to fetus. Depending on degree of exposure, periodic medical examination is indicated. Some persons may be more sensitive to the substance's effect on blood cells.

    • Handling information

      HANDLING: Isolate from oxidizers, heat, sparks, electric equipment & open flame. Use only with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing of vapor or spray mist. Avoid contact with skin & eyes. Wear OSHA Standard goggles or face shield. Consult Safety Equipment Supplier. Wear gloves, apron & footwear impervious to this material. Wash clothing before reuse. Avoid free fall of liquid. Ground containers when transferring. Do not flame cut, saw, drill, braze, or weld. Empty container very hazardous! Continue all label precautions!
      STORAGE: Keep in fireproof surroundings. Keep separated from strong oxidants, strong acids. Keep cool. Do not store above 49 C/120 F. Keep container tightly closed & upright when not in use to prevent leakage.

      Processing, use or contamination may change the waste management options. Recycle / dispose of observing national, regional, state, provincial and local
      health, safety & pollution laws. If in doubt, contact appropriate agencies.

    • First Aid

      EYE CONTACT: For eyes, flush with plenty of water for 15 minutes & get medical attention.
      SKIN CONTACT: In case of contact with skin immediately remove contaminated clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap & water. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
      INHALATION: After high vapor exposure, remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If breathing has stopped, trained personnel should immediately begin artificial respiration. If the heart has stopped, trained personnel should immediately begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
      SWALLOWING: Rinse mouth. Give a slurry of activated charcoal in water to drink. Do NOT induce vomiting. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION  IMMEDIATELY. Rest. Do NOT give liquids to an unconscious or convulsing person.
